Ms. WITT’s Spring To-Do List for Teachers

This year, we have decided to focus on developing a few key tasks from last year to help make your transition to summer stress-free and ensure you're prepared to return to a well-organized classroom this fall.

March 2026 To-do List

✓ Start organizing your classroom and preparing your closets for summer storage.

Don’t wait until the last teacher workday of the school year, especially if there is any chance that your room will be used for summer school. Also, if you share a classroom with another colleague, offer to clear space in your closet for their belongings.

As the teacher responsible for the end-of-year checkout, informing your colleague about this now means you won’t have to handle items they might have forgotten to secure in their rush to start summer vacation.

✓ Schedule a meeting with the appropriate administrator or principal if you want to discuss any requests or preferences for the upcoming school year.

Now is a great time to discuss changing to a different grade level or teaching another course. As the school year and spring testing season end, administrators will have more time to meet with their teacher colleagues.

Additionally, a face-to-face meeting provides a better chance than an email to discuss your mindset and explain why you believe this change is necessary, as it is more personal.

✓ Start planning your summer reading list for relaxing at the beach, in your backyard, or on your couch.

Most of my ELA colleagues are passionate readers; we are always reading, in the middle of a book, or just finishing some literature. Here are a few suggestions to helpyou form your reading bucket list for this summer.
